Just Like Buster Keaton (Single)
Loudon Wainwright III recorded “Just Like Buster Keaton” in 2022. It was written over 30 years ago by George Gerdes and Marc Jonson, two singer/songwriters that go all the way back to Loudon’s earliest adventures on the folk scene. It has never before been recorded or released. The banjo and tambourine accompaniment nod in the direction of the musical theater traditions that Keaton grew up with on the road with his family act. Here’s what Loudon has to say about it - “I first heard George Gerdes singing “Just Like Buster Keaton“ maybe 30 years ago. He and Marc Jonson put the tune together. George was my best buddy and a major songwriting influence for me. The Double G shuffled off the mortal coil in January of 2021 so it makes me very happy to think of people digging his work.”
